The New Year is fast approaching, and it’s at this time that many of us like to start planning for the year ahead. If you’re starting to think about giving your home a fresh makeover come spring, we’re here with a sneak peak of the best decor trends in 2020:
This is slated to be the hottest decor trend next year, with the Grandmillennial style offering classic designs with a modern twist. Think neon chintz, or some rather bold and risqué needlepoint. Another great example is our custom traditional designed flat screen TV lift furniture; a blend of classic, hand-carved wooden cabinets and some of the most advanced visuals technologies in existence. Often referred to as ‘granny chic’, the grandmillennial style draws upon the unique beauty of antique design and applies it to modern and contemporary homes for a true old-meets-new atmosphere.
Are your home and backyard filled with artificial plants and flowers? We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but 2020 looks set to be the year that design authenticity reigns supreme. While the plastic variety are arguably much easier to manage, there’s a rapidly emerging trend for the truly unique, with the individual growth patterns of plants and flowers being one of the most effective ways to show off something that nobody else in the world will have. We’re seeing this authenticity in other areas, too, with a preference shift from laminate to real wood, and from fake marble to real Carrara.
The period of the barely-there Scandinavian trend is over, replaced with a busier European flair that’s fast taking over. European design and, more importantly, classic European design, is having a major influence over modern American style, and we’re already starting to see trends lifted straight from old French farmhouses and opulent Italian villas. It’s a type of ‘Old World’ design comprising of oversized furniture pieces, deep textures, and Mediterranean color. Check out our own French-styled Chateau furniture and our curved, Italian-style Tivoli cabinet for a closer glimpse into this trend,
If you’ve been hiding away trinkets and treasured memories in favor of the minimalist trend, then now is the time to bring everything back out and display them proudly. Next year, the back-to-basics theme will well and truly be out the window, replaced with a trend for home comforts and organized clutter. In 2020, it’s anticipated that one of the largest design techniques will revolve around individual personality, demonstrated through unique collections and collectables, not in vogue color palettes. Comfy cushions, upholstered walls, big eye catching furniture, and rugs are in, in in!
