The holidays are here! With Christmas only a week away and snow storms bringing flurries across the East Coast, there is no better time to cozy up in front of the TV and watch some festive films or TV shows, preferably with a big bowl of sugar cookies and a mug of hot chocolate.
Whether you’re looking for a Christmas classic or an all-new holiday movie, here are the most festive of films and TV to enjoy on your motorized TV lift cabinet this December.
1 – Klaus
A relatively new Christmas movie, Klaus is a 2019 Netflix original bound to fill you with Christmas cheer. It tells the heartwarming story of a postman who befriends a lonely toymaker. Together they deliver toys to the children in their village and bring some holiday spirit. Having won seven awards for animation, story, and vocal performances, if you’ve not seen this movie, you should.
2 – Holidate
Holidate is a brand-new Netflix film that came out this October. Differing from the usual Christmas cheese, this is a rom-com movie starring Emma Roberts who couples up with an Australian guy for “holidates” – where the pair are each other’s on-call date for every holiday, be that Christmas, Valentines, or New Year’s Eve. As with any rom-com, things get complicated…
3 – Home Alone
Next up we have a Christmas classic that the entire family will love: Home Alone. When a young boy is accidentally left to fend for himself over Christmas and a pair of robbers try to break into his home, he sets a range of hilarious traps to defend the house. With a huge amount of slap-stick comedy, the whole family will be in giggles.
4 – Modern Family “Undeck the Halls”
If you’re in the mood for a short and sweet Christmas TV show episode rather than a fully-fledged holiday movie, there is nothing better than the very first Modern Family Christmas episode. Discovering the kids have tried a cigarette, Claire and Phil try to cancel Christmas, and a whole host of hilarious shenanigans unravel.
5 – The Christmas Setup
The Christmas Setup is Lifetime’s first-ever LGBTQ+ holiday romance movie, where a Christmas romance blossoms between a New York lawyer and his high school crush when he returns home for the holidays. Given the choice of following his heart or taking a big promotion in London, which will he choose?
