BBQ is a state of mind

Hosting a BBQ well is less about buying random meats, sticking them on the grill and seeing how it goes.

If you want your place to be known as ‘the place’ to go for a grill out, then there a few things you’ll want to keep an eye on to make sure everything goes smoothly, and most importantly, no one goes hungry.

Prep your BBQ beforehand and make sure it’s free from any ash, grease or rubbish left over from the last cook.

Use charcoal instead of any briquettes with additives or chemicals in them, as this can make the meat you cook taste off.

Cooking slow is key to making sure your burgers and sausages don’t burn to a crisp. Keep an eye on the grill to make sure the heat is evenly spread and things aren’t getting too hot.

Using wood with less moisture can give you that glorious smokey BBQ taste you’re looking for.

Go easy on the sauce as there is loads of sugar content in them, especially when cooking for children. Add the sauce on the meat when there is about 10 minutes left of cook time.
