The start of a New Year always means some brand new resolutions to live by – here at Cabinet Tronix, we’re making sure our 2015 resolutions are design-oriented! If you’re still stuck for ideas when it comes to your pledge for the New Year, we’ve put together a list of resolutions that revolve around interiors and design – take a look, and add your own in the comments below!

1.Add A Little Decadence

Many people associate New Year’s resolutions with giving up a treat or sacrificing something they love. Why can’t resolutions be more enjoyable? At Cabinet Tronix, the first resolution we recommend is to add a little decadence to your home. Whether you’ve always wanted a whirlpool bath, a home aquarium or an end-of-bed TV lift, make 2015 the year you finally realise your interior dreams.

2.Update Technology

There’s no place for wires in the homes of 2015 – carry out a little audit of your home tech and see which outdated gadgets you can afford to replace or update. Cabinet Tronix’s own range of TV lift cabinets and consoles conceal all wires entirely, for a sleek and modern look, and they help cut down on clutter by offering universal remotes with all units. If you decide to discard your old television for a brand new one, the cabinets also offer great protection for your expensive new device.

3.De-Clutter

Okay, we know it’s a common resolution, but it’s there for a reason! De-cluttering your home is one of the best ways to feel refreshed and ready for the year ahead. Be as ruthless as you can – if you’ve not used something in a year, either throw it away or put it into storage. Hide away functional yet unsightly things like DVD players and remotes, while emphasising show-stopping furniture and beautiful decorative pieces.

4.Replace… or Repurpose?

If you’ve grown attached to a piece of old furniture but find that it’s not suitable for life in a modern home anymore, why not try repurposing it? Give it a revamp with some chalk paint, have it restored by an expert, or simply hack it apart and use the pieces for something useful, like shelves or other storage solutions.

5.Go Green

This should be at the top of everyone’s list of resolutions, but just in case it isn’t here’s a little reminder. The current average carbon footprint is 25 tonnes per year, per American, but making a few changes around the house can reduce this substantially. Don’t leave TVs or appliances on standby, replace all lights with energy-efficient alternatives, and try to recycle as much as possible. With all the money you save on electricity, you’ll be able to afford to treat your interiors even further!
